Stevens Construction Wins Aurora Award for Fifth Year

FORT MYERS, Fla. (July 25, 2011) – For the fifth consecutive year, Stevens Construction has won Aurora Awards at the Southeast Builder’s Conference. The Aurora Awards honor the best in commercial and residential construction in a 12-state region. For the third consecutive year, the company also was presented with a Grand Aurora Award, which recognizes the best project within an entire category..

In a ceremony held on July 23 in Orlando, Stevens Construction won the distinguished Grand Aurora Award and received an Aurora Award in the Best Healthcare division for Collins Vision. Located at 6900 International Dr. in Fort Myers, the project consisted of a 10,440-square-foot medical office with eight exam rooms, a procedure room, two orbital scan rooms, and a retail area and lobby. Christopher J. Lee Architects, Inc. designed the project and L.E.A. Design provided interior design services.

Stevens Construction was also awarded an Aurora within the Renovation division for Eye Specialists Cornea and Laser Center. The project included the addition of 4,600 square feet, to create a 10,580-square-foot ambulatory surgery center, which features two operating rooms, recovery rooms, step-down recovery, a nurse station and a patient lounge area. Located at 12381 S. Cleveland Ave. in Fort Myers, the facility serves as the surgical center for Dr. Mark Gorovoy. Eye Specialists Cornea and Laser Center was designed by Christopher J. Lee Architects, Inc.

Entries were judged on design, quality of construction, unusual constraints, cost savings techniques and outstanding features.

The company has earned ten Aurora Awards since 2007, three within the Healthcare division, one within Public Works, two in the Hospitality category and one Renovation award. In addition, Stevens Construction has earned the highest distinction, having been recognized with three Grand Auroras, which honor the best project within an entire category.
