Stevens Construction Inc. Wins Aurora Award for Second Year

For the second consecutive year, Stevens Construction Inc. has won an Aurora Award at the Southeast Builder’s Conference. The Aurora Awards honor the best in residential and commercial construction in a 12-state region.

The ceremony was held Aug. 2 in Orlando, and Stevens Construction took home an Aurora in the best commercial health care category for St. Mark’s Surgical Center in Fort Myers . The 9,290-square-foot facility has three operating rooms, a post-operating area and administrative offices. It features decorative stone flooring and a vaulted wood-plank ceiling, creating a ski resort atmosphere.

Stevens Construction built St. Mark’s Surgical Center to withstand hurricane-force winds of 130 mph, in compliance with the ASCE 7-98 wind load provisions. Additionally, a generator allows for continuous operations in the entire building if power is disrupted.

Designed by Burt Hill/Pollock Kreig Architects, Inc., St. Mark’s Surgical Center was inspected and licensed by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), which ensures regulatory compliance for health care facilities throughout Florida .

In 2007, Stevens Construction earned an Aurora Award in the hospitality category for the South Seas Island Resort Lagoon Pools and Clubhouse at the Pointe.
