Stevens Construction Wins Aurora Award for Third Consecutive Year

FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 3, 2009) – For the third consecutive year, Stevens Construction Inc. has won an Aurora Award at the Southeast Builder’s Conference. The Aurora Awards honor the best in residential and commercial construction in a 12-state region. The company has also won a Grand Aurora Award, which is presented to the best project within an entire category.

On a ceremony held on Aug. 1 in Orlando, Stevens Construction was presented with an Aurora in the best hospitality division for South Seas Island Resort Kid’s Pool Complex. Completed in November of 2008, the Complex includes two waterslides, pool equipment room, slide tower and trolley stop.
The pool area features a 120-cyclone-curved waterslide, a 50-foot vertical slide, brick pavers, landscaping, benches and custom lighting.

Stevens Construction was also awarded the prestigious Grand Aurora Award within the hospitality category for the resort project. Grand Awards are presented to the best project within the category among all price divisions.

Entries were judged on design, quality of construction, unusual constraints, cost savings techniques and outstanding features.

This is the second Aurora Award Stevens Construction has earned for projects at the Captiva resort. In 2007, the company won an Aurora for the Lagoon Pools and Clubhouse at the Pointe, a project to restore the waterfront resort after damage from Hurricane Charley. Last year, the company took home an Aurora in the healthcare category for St. Mark’s Surgery Center.
